A&P was my favorite short story that was given so far this semester. The plot and storyline has really stuck with me since we first read it. The main character is so raw with his words and brutally honest with his observations. The way the story was written so simply inspired me to choose it as well. When I read this story the first time, I could mentally picture everything since the author was so descriptive and picky with his choice of words. Although all the short stories that we have read all have underlying themes, I felt like the first paragraph was so telling with A&P that I could not ignore it. The words created very vivid ideas and I contemplated for a long time on what sentences to choose, finally deciding on the very beginning because of the adjectives given to describe one of the girls. I also felt like the setting of A&P was more personal than the other stories. I know I’ve driven by grocery stores and been in them as well, so I knew the basic outline of one. My other thought process was picking a story that I could accurately describe or represent with my images and drawings.
