A clinic created in 2019 by the Gonzaga School of Law Center for Civil and Human Rights (CCHR) hosts a free ID name and identification change to help them update their identity. The Pop-Up Name and Gender Change ID Clinic first opened to help non-binary and transgender individuals to become who they are completely. However, they now serve anyone who is looking to identify themselves. At the time of the opening, there was nothing in Spokane Washington like it. During the pandemic, they teamed up with a local LGBTQ+ clinic, and now through the shelter they have created an appointment system. They hold eight appointments within four hours in order to reach as many people as they can. This provided a stronger bond and trust with the LGBTQ+ community. The clinic not only freely aids the community, but the law students as well. It is a great way for law students to take what they have learned in classes and apply it to individuals who need help. Many students feel like they are giving back to the community when they volunteer and are proud to see how far the clinic has grown.
