Gonzaga Men’s Basketball takes the title for West Coast Conference Champions. The school’s long time rivals Saint Mary’s Gaels. The Zags had a tough start, not attacking the ball, missing shots, but that soon changed thanks to senior Andrew Nembhard. After a 3-point shot made by Nembhard, the pace of the game quickly changed. After Saint Mary’s offense started to tumble, it only motivated the Zags more to push through and they quickly took a double digit lead. Unfortunately, the Zags became too comfortable and that double digit lead diminished after halftime. They remained in the lead for the rest of the game, but finished on an even higher note, thanks to Nembhard. Passing the ball up for Holmgren, freshman point guard, Holmgren was able to alley-oop a dunk off of Saint Mary’s Gaels. The kennel went crazy as the blue confetti hit the ground, marking the Zags victory. Their coach, Mark Few, couldn’t be more proud of his team for beating such a well rounded school.
