A letter to the editor was sent this week regarding the recent news story of the Asian American Activist group. The letter contains issues regarding the inclusion of students of color throughout the university. The person writing the letter said there are not very many opportunities to explore the history and culture of Asian Americans. Continued later on in the article was a statement about the storm of the capitol on January 6th and how important education of different cultures is important for every community. This is why they value the Asian American Activist group and their push for inclusion as well as a minor in Asian American studies. They continue to say that US history classes and curriculum need to be refocused as their lessons tend to hone in on racism, violence, and hate which could be the leading factor for its existence still in the US. The education system has refused to fight back on the topic especially after COVID’s first outbreak around the world in 2020. The importance of current and past events shapes for the future of America and minority groups.
